CRS Refrigeration Ltd. is currently recruiting an Environmental Health and Safety Officer to lead the EHS function on behalf of the CRS Group. As the EHS Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the business meets the necessary legislative obligations and drive continuous improvements in environmental health and safety management within the company.
The role is a proactive, standalone, visible role requiring excellent communication and influencing skills and has responsibility for liaising with employees, contractors, suppliers, and customers in all matters relating to EHS.
Responsibilities include
- Provide advice, support, and guidance to senior management in all matters of legal compliance regarding environmental health and safety.
- Establish and report on monthly leading and lagging indicators for the Board of Management.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement through the development of the existing environmental health and safety management system.
- Use the existing Safety Management System and the Safety Strategy in place to drive the safety culture and continual improvement process.
- Provide necessary documentation to customers in relation to risk assessments and method statements. Support customer site operations and review safety aspects of projects on customer sites.
- Lead the EHS training programme, maintain the EHS training matrix and deliver toolbox talks and in-house training as required e.g., manual handling, abrasive wheels, work at height etc.
- Develop and execute the internal EHS audit plan and audit external stakeholders as required.
- Drive CAPAs to closure resulting from risk assessments, audits and inspections, consultant reports etc.
- Manage the risk assessment programme, chemical management programme, Safety Data Sheet Management, PAT testing, ladder and harness inspections etc.
- Procurement of necessary personal protective equipment, safety equipment, COVID controls, signage and other resources required to support the business.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine the true root cause and prevent a recurrence.
- Work with other members of the team to ensure EHS is actively taken into consideration where relevant at the planning stage and execution of projects on-site and at customer locations.
- Coordinate activities with other employees and external companies to contribute to the implementation of the environmental health and safety programme of work including housekeeping, waste management etc.
- Manage the on-going COVID controls in place at the place of work including overseeing the Antigen testing programme.
- Liaise with external stakeholders as required including the Health and Safety Authority, EPA, County Council etc.
Skills and experience required
- 5 to 10 years’ experience working directly in an EHS role in a construction / industrial / manufacturing setting. Experience in metal work, body building, or a fabrication type environment would be a distinct advantage.
- Must hold a relevant qualification in environmental health and safety at Diploma level or above.
- IOSH membership and experience of ISO 45001 / 14001 / 9001 would be an advantageous but not essential.
- The ideal candidate would ideally also be a manual handling instructor, abrasive wheel instructor etc. However necessary training will be provided to the right candidate.
- Must have the ability to communicate across all levels of the organisation and represent the company with external stakeholders and customers.
- The person must be a self-starter and have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Full clean driving licence and own transport is a requirement of this role. There will be occasional travel to other sites including the UK.
- Candidate must be computer literate and have working knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
